NASHVILLE (June 13, 2015)- QB Zac Tate threw four TDs to four different receivers and the defense held the St. Louis Bulldogs to 66 total yards, minus 30 of which was on the ground as the Nashville Storm (4-0) defeated St. Louis 43-0 in Gridiron Developmental Football League action.

“Zac played well tonight but that is expected,” said Storm head coach Charles Hunter. “We limited his passes because we wanted to get our running game going. He made the most of his attempts. I am pleased with the way he is handling the offense.”

Tate only attempted eight passes on the night completing five of them for 163 yards. Jeremie Whittaker (three catches for 90 yards and a TD) made a highlight reel catch when he leaped over a Bulldog defender and fought him off for it. This was the series after Whittaker caught a TD pass from Tate to open the game’s scoring.

“He is a great receiver that can make any quarterback look good,” said Tate of Whittaker. “I threw that one late and he still made the play. We have some weapons on the outside. It is pitch and catch most of the time because these guys stay open. The line kept me clean also. As a unit we played great.”

WR Chris Dansby (one catch for 37 yards), Mario Merriweather (one catch for 11 yards) and Stevie Hendricks (two catches for 57 yards) caught the other three TDs. DB Chris Copeland returned an interception 93 yards for a TD. All of the scoring gave the Storm a commanding 36-0 lead at the half. Back up QB Demarcus Simons scored the lone TD in the second half on a 15 yard run. The game was called early in the fourth quarter after a brash of personal foul calls.

“It got “chippy” out there so they called the game,” said Hunter. “It was hot, they traveled a long way and it was out of hand. Even though I think we needed more work it was the right thing to do. We didn’t want it to get out of hand.”

Storm Forecast:
